For this 604,000 SF, $129M facility, we were responsible for structural engineering, general construction specifications and the architectural design of the building envelope. The project included 1,200 inmate beds; sheriff’s offices; four courtrooms; surface and underground parking; and a firing range. The design was cost-effective using low-maintenance building materials, and with security measures meeting ACA industry standards. AIA/NI Honor Award for Excellence in Architecture.

We delivered a new administration office for the District while providing it with an environmentally responsible, forward-thinking design that creates a community presence. This high-performance, 40,000 SF facility is seeking LEED Silver Certification. Daylighting and sun control create an inviting environment. Water-source heat pumps utilize the sanitation plant's effluent water. And, methane generated on-site is converted to electrical power for the entire facility. 2010 AIA/NI Award of Excellence & Honor Award for Green Design, ALA Merit Award.

We provided architectural, structural, and MEP engineering design services for this new complex and renovation of the existing building. The project included a 34,000 SF public works garage, a 23,000 SF police station, a 17,000 SF fire station and a 12,500 SF basement, and shared space of 8,500 SF. The public works garage features gasoline storage and dispensing; storage and maintenance areas for street and water department vehicles; and a two-bay truck wash.

We designed this 44,000 SF center to replace the existing, 40-year-old building. It houses the 911 center, police and fire facilities, training and patrol areas, living quarters for 10 firefighters, shooting range, fitness area, and booking/holding area. The main lobby has been designed for the eventual addition of the county court and administrative offices. The generator system uses diesel fuel, to keep emergency power systems off the utility grids.

After completing a programming and feasibility study in 2004, we designed this new, 45,000 SF facility that includes state-of-the-art facilities for Dixon’s police and fire departments. Some space is shared while other is separate. The project sits on a challenging site and is part of an overall downtown redevelopment project. AIA/NI Merit Award for Excellence in Architecture.

We provided complete architectural, interior, and engineering design services for projects at the district's five fire stations. These projects included additions and renovations for improved living quarters; extended apparatus bays; a maintenance facility; staff space; parking areas; underground storm-water detention storage; and new, 100-foot emergency communication monopole. This fire district protects about 30 square miles and a population of about 70,000.

We created this 18,700 SF police station and 911 center with Prairie Style design, providing a sense of identity to the community’s main northerly entrance. The facility contains areas for booking, administration, patrol and training. It allows the police force to expand to 65 officers and is four times larger than the original facility -- accommodating the department’s needs for the next 25 years or more. The 911 center includes four dispatcher workstations and can be expanded.

We provided complete architectural and engineering design services for this new, five-story, 104,500 SF State of Illinois regional office building. The facility provides office space for 13 state agencies with 350 employees, and includes a 110 seat auditorium. The building also houses a state-of-the-art police crime laboratory of 24,000 SF, one of the largest forensic labs in the State of Illinois. AIA/NI Award for Excellence in Architecture

Since our design of this new 46,000 SF terminal in 1985, we’ve served as the airport’s architect of record, providing master planning, architectural & engineering design, plus construction administration services for many projects. The terminal features federal inspection offices, screening areas, a passenger terminal, loading bridge, ground support equipment, baggage handling & furnishings. We have also performed regional transportation & high-speed rail studies.
